Important Update: New ETA Visa System for Israel Effective August 2024

Starting in January 2025, travelers from visa-exempt countries will need to obtain an ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) approval before their departure to Israel. According to the Ministry of Interior, this new process is designed to make entering Israel easier and more efficient for tourists.
Key Details:
- Application Process: Travelers must complete an online application. Once approved, an ETA confirmation will be sent via email. No printout of the confirmation is required for entry.
- Entry Procedure: Upon arrival at the airport, simply scan your passport at one of the 50 scanner machines. Physical passport controls are available if assistance is needed.
- Cost and Validity: The ETA permit costs 25 shekels (approximately 7 USD) and is valid for up to 90 days per stay. It remains valid for up to two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. There will be no requirement for payment during the first year of the trial.
- Pilot Phase: The pilot phase begins on June 1st, 2024. Participation is voluntary and free for visitors from the USA and Germany. Starting in January 2025, all travelers from visa-exempt countries will need to obtain an ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) approval before their departure to Israel.
